Stone Trench Coat

Our flagship ladies and men’s double breasted trench coats are simply stunning in every sense of the word. Truly a timeless classic garment for all ages. This starts with the 8 oz 100% cotton twill used for the outer shell. This luxurious fabric is complete with a water repellent finish ensuring you will stay dry and warm. Our trench coats are offered in three classic colour ways; tan, black and navy.

Both coats fully encompass the remarkable history of this iconic coat which can be traced back to the first world war. Key features on our coats include belt and sleeve straps along with a front gun flap and rear windbreaker. You will also find a traditional 100% cotton check lining which is also found on the under collar.

Quality materials are used throughout including real leather buckles and brown buffalo horn buttons. You will also find antique cooper for both the eyelets, belt D -rings and the hook and eye on the collar. The antique colour contrasts so well against all three colourways and lifts each trench coat to a whole new level. The interior check linings are in fact the shirting fabrics used to make our ladies and men’s tailored shirts.

The trench coats are incredibly versatile to wear and can easily be dressed up or down for work or weekend wear. We have styled our men’s black trench coat with our lovat chinos and black denim shirt. For ladies we have paired our stone trench coat with black jeans for an outfit that will top draw regardless of the situation.

Our field jackets also benefit from the same outer shell cloth used for our Harrington jacket and trench coats. The field jacket also utilises the same real buffalo horn buttons and corduroy cloth for the interior collar and cuffs. The jacket comes in three colour ways; navy, grey and khaki green.

Like the trench coat, the jacket is designed to incorporate the rich history of this jacket which was used by US military service men during the Vietnam War. The jacket is finished with four front pockets and one interior pocket. It also has button down epaulettes on the shoulders.

For styling we recommend pairing our khaki green field jacket with our beige corduroy trousers and blue gingham shirt. A classic smart country outfit.

For those who prefer a more formal or city look consider pairing our grey or navy field jackets with moleskin trousers and a tailored shirt. For really cold days add in our tweed herringbone waistcoat.

British made waterproof coat collection

All the coats and jackets mentioned in this blog all benefit from the same 8 oz water repellent cloth sourced from British Millerain. This luxurious cloth not only looks fabulous but will also keep you dry and warm.

Sizing

All our jackets and coats come in four sizes: medium, large, x large and XX large. They are fitted so if you prefer a more generous cut or are looking to layer up then we recommend going up one size.

Conclusion

We are really proud to offer such a fantastic selection of British made coats and jackets. Not only are these beautifully handmade at our Suffolk factory but also use only the very best materials. No expense is spared in producing British made coats that will become a wardrobe staple and last for years to come.

Price and Value

Our classic garments are always made in the UK from fine fabrics and are built to love and to last. The unit price may seem a little expensive at first but they are made to last. They do not go out of shape or come apart after several washes so you can wear them again and again. Contrast this to much cheaper high street versions that end up stuck in your wardrobe after being worn just once, never to see the light of day as they were ill fitting or didn't survive the laundry. You pay a price up front but value is only apparent with the passage of time. In the end you save money. The adage of ‘don't buy cheap, buy smart ‘fits here and you will do your bit for the environment as well.

Sustainability and Size

I cannot leave this blog without mentioning sustainability. It means many different things to many different people. It is well known that the fast fashion industry does enormous harm to the environment, particularly oil based fabrics and single use garments. You should consider this fact every time you shop for clothing. Here at WISC we make classic garments that are built to last from natural fabrics to help minimise our impact. They are designed to be worn again and again without losing their shape or appearance. Multiple use also means that they become value for money. We also make most of our products to order so that unwanted stock is never a feature. Size is also a factor in sustainability. If clothes fit well they will be used a lot and the issue of returns for ill fitting garments becomes redundant. We stress this on our site and in addition to an extensive detailed size guide, we offer a special ‘design your own trouser’ section for this very reason. If you generally purchase off the peg chinos for example and try to make them fit, why not visit our website with your measurements and we will make you a pair. Going forward we continue to look at ways of improving our sustainability credentials further. You should also always consider recycling or donating any clothes you really don't want or need.
