History of The Harrington Jacket

The first Harrington style jackets were claimed to be made by the British Clothing Company Baracuta in the 1930’s. The British Company Grenfell also claims to have made an identical or at least close jacket around the same time based on their golf jackets which are still in production. Both versions were originally made in Lancashire. Later, the jacket was then often seen on visiting USA servicemen after WWII. It has subsequently been adapted by many groups and cultures to be the lightweight jacket of choice throughout the decades and its popularity today is testament to its versatility.
