The Origins Of the Denim Shirt

The actual birthplace of denim remains disputed but many believe it was in France. Fabric weavers in Nimes produced the fabric in a classical twill weave whilst trying to produce a hard wearing cotton fabric. The weavers used indigo to dye the warp threads blue. The finished fabric remained the blueprint for what is known as denim for a long while. Traditionally it was regarded as hard wearing workwear, and although it is still bought by many for this purpose, other fibres have been blended in to increase its appeal and to widen its use in fashion. Whilst both historically and still today its main use is in jeans, you can find all manner of garments on sale in classic looking indigo denim including men and womens shirts.

Fashion and the Denim Shirt

Denim shirts owe their history to workwear. Associated strongly with blue collar workers it was not originally considered a fashion item by any stretch. Fast forward to today's more casual society and you will find them in abundance. A valuable addition to smart casual culture it can be worn both in summer and winter. The denim shirt is still very much a dress down garment and whilst it can be spotted under casual cotton jackets it has a more rebellious feel to it. Now a timeless garment it never goes out of fashion and is a weekend favourite of many.

Washing your Long Sleeve Denim Shirt

Your mens long sleeve denim shirt is 100% pure cotton product so add it to a cool machine wash or wash by hand if desired. Always take extra care to check the label on your shirts for origin and best washing instructions and set iron temperature accordingly.
