When it comes to warm cloths, two trousers fabrics always stand out; moleskin and corduroy. Both in stock fabrics come in at around 250 gsm which is a good all round weight enabling them to also be used in Autumn and Spring months. For a £25 surcharge we can order in weights up to 400 gsm.

Known as the ‘cloth of the kings’ corduroy is made by weaving extra sets of fibre into the base fabric to form vertical ridges that are known as wales. The number of wales vary considerably between cloths, some as low as 8 while others are as high as 16. The lower the number of wales the more prominent the wale normally is. This unique cloth remains a firm favourite for winter attire due to its natural warm properties. Our in stock corduroy cloth is 97% cotton with 3% elastane. This small amount of elastane makes a huge difference to the comfort and wear ability of the trousers with no drawbacks. The cloth is sourced from Yorkshire mill, Brisbane Moss and we have recently added new colour ways including black, grey and brown.

Our moleskin trousers are our best selling pair of trousers. Made from 100% cotton with natural stretch, the trousers are very warm and are offered in a selection of traditional colour ways including navy, stone, olive green and beige.

Moleskin trousers are certainly more versatile then corduroy in terms of creating outfits and can easily be dressed up or down for work or a day out shooting. We have pair our navy moleskin trousers with both our grey field jacket and flagship beige trench coat. These outfits are warm, practical and very stylish.

Last but not least we have our twill chinos available in 12 colour ways. The weight of the cloths varies between the colour ways. The brighter colours are in a lighter weight and more geared for the summer weather. For those looking for a thicker cloth consider our black, navy, stone, lovat and beige options. Like the corduroy, our twill chinos include 3% elastane for extra comfort.

All our trousers and clothing online is hand cut and made at our Suffolk factory using only the finest materials and cloths. In addition to sourcing the trouser fabrics from coveted British mill Brisbane Moss, we also use the finest shirting fabrics for our pocket linings coupled with real buffalo horn buttons and a YKK zip. These materials combined with a lengthy production process which includes a number of ‘extra steps’ creates a first class pair of trousers that are second to none. Many of these steps will go unnoticed by our customers but make a huge difference to the finish and longevity of the trousers.
