Our mens trench coat collection is handmade in England using the finest materials and the best of British tailoring.
A first class mens trench coat should always offer the wearer protection against the every changing British weather so we continued our long term relationship with coveted mill British Millerain who have been waxing fabrics in the UK since 1880.
We chose fabrics from their dry wax Carlyle collection as it offers excellent water repellent properties but more importantly the wax is dry and therefore doesn’t rub off like you often find in traditional wax Barbour type jackets. The 8oz twill fabric has a fantastic feel offers excellent draping properties that are essential when designing such an iconic men’s jacket.
We finish the interior of each trench coat with a luxury check shirting fabric from Italian mill Tessitura Monti with 100% viscose for the sleeve lining from Bernstein and Banleys.
We also don’t compromise on the buttons or buckles using polished brown buffalo horn buttons from Italian button maker Maribert and real leather buckles made in England.
Every trench coat is hand cut and made in England at our Suffolk factory by experienced tailors and seamstresses.
Can guys wear trench coats?
Given that the history of trench coats go back to the first world war and was worn by men in the trenches it is strange that today some see it as an item of clothing exclusively for ladies. A trench coat is one of the most versatile items of clothing a man can own. It can be dressed up and worn over a suit with a tie but also looks equally dashing with a button down shirt and a pair of jeans and smart trainers. If you are going to wear it predominately for work with a suit we recommend our navy or mens black trench coat. If it is going to be worn all the time then you can’t go wrong with our beige mens trench coat.
What to wear with a mens trench coat
If you are going casual then we recommend either a pair of our indigo or grey jeans with a polo or button down Oxford shirt with smart trainers or loafers. If you want to dress up without wearing a suit then consider a pair of moleskin or corduroy trouser with a double cuff shirt, waistcoat and a tie. Make sure you choose contrast colours as it will make a better impression and go with a pair of Oxford or Brogue shoes.
What shoes to wear with mens trench coat
When it comes to a trench coat and the shoes to wear with it, it really actually comes down to the rest of your outfit. If you are wearing with suit or tie and smart trousers then stay safe and go with brogues or Oxford shoes. If you are going out in jeans or a casual shirt then Chelsea , Desert boots, loafers or smart trainers will all look great. Just make sure you get the right colours. If you are going with a black trench coat then go with black shoes. If you have a navy or beige trench coat then stick with shades of grey, brown and blue for your footwear.
How to look after my trench coat
As the outershell of our trench coats are made from dry wax we recommend removing any dirt with a sponge and water. Most marks will brush off when dry. Do not put your trench coat in a washing machine or dry clean it.
