Our latest blog is dedicated to men’s tailored shorts that we design and manufacture in the UK. While there are many men’s shorts available online, there are very few available that are tailored.
The definition of tailored clothing includes smart, fitted and well cut. Without doubt tailored shorts offer a level of formability to your outfit that many shorts do not offer. Smart design and materials
A well tailored pair of shorts starts with the overall design of the shorts. We include many traditional features that you will also find in our chinos and trousers collection. These features include front slanted pockets, a zip fly and rear double welt pockets with pocket flaps.
With the design set we move to the materials and take a modern view of the base cloth. Our tailored shorts are a classic twill weave that is recognised for its strength and durability. However instead of being 100% cotton we have selected a 97% cotton and 3% elastane blend. The 3% elastane may seem small but it offers the wearer an extra level of manoeuvrability and comfort that cannot be achieved with 100% cotton. We use the same stretch cloth in our men’s chinos, jeans and corduroy trousers along with many of our
ladies blouses.
We source our twill cloth from coveted British mill Brisbane Moss in Yorkshire. We currently offer eight colours in our chino shorts collection including traditional colours like French Navy coupled with bolder options like tobacco and re, to list just a few.
The use of quality materials is not only reserved for the base cloth. We use real polished brown buffalo horn buttons along with the finest shirting fabric for the interior pockets.
Fabric weights
Like our men’s chinos, we currently offer two weights in our tailored shorts collection. The traditional colours including navy, beige, stone and black are made using a 255 G/ms cloth. The other colours including light blue and red use a lighter weight coming in at 215 G/ms. Both weights are fine for British summer. If you are planning to wear them abroad where the temperature is significantly higher we would recommend selecting the lighter weight option.
Mens shorts Fit and Cut
Our shorts are cut so that they are fitted and most importantly the waist is cut to actual size. Many trouser brands today are actively involved in vanity sizing where the actual size of the waist is bigger than the size label. This is not the case for our chino shorts so we strongly recommend double checking your measurements.
We offer a wide selection of waist sizes including off sizes including 35” and 37”, so if you are xs or XL we can accommodate you.
Made in England
All our clothing online is hand cut and made at our Suffolk factory in England. We combine traditional British tailoring and manufacturing with the best machinery to create quality tailored shorts and tops that will last wash after wash.
Caring for you tailored shorts
We recommend a 30 degree wash. Do not tumble dry your shorts and for best results hang straight from the washing machine and iron on the inside on medium heat.
