Our new blog is dedicated to bright colour shirts for women. Normally reserved for spring and summer or that beach holiday, bright coloured shirts are a great addition to any women’s wardrobe.
We offer two types of bright coloured shirts for women:
Our floral and printed poplin shirts are 100% cotton and woven by famous Italian shirt mill Canclini.
Our bright coloured Oxford shirts are a mixture of 100% cotton and 97% cotton with 3% elastane. These luxurious Oxford fabrics comes from shirting mill Soktas and are all finished with our signature styling. This includes using the same printed fabrics from Canclini for the inside collar and cuffs along with a contrasting coloured buttonhole.
Quality materials, made in England
All our shirt fabrics are woven using US PIMA and Egyptian long staple cotton. This is the same type of cotton that is used to produce the finest bed linen. It is both strong, fine and durable.
The Oxford fabric is made using what is known as a basket weave. The final result is a truly stunning cloth that is the best money can buy. We continue to use this popular fabric in many of our top selling ladies and men’s shirts. Our light blue women’s shirt and white blouses (for those who are interested in buying a ladies white shirt) are made with an Oxford that is 97% cotton with 3% elastane. The 3% elastane allows the shirt to stretch in just the right places and offers an additional level of comfort and fit that is second to none. At the moment these stretch fabrics are very limited in colour options; white, light blue, denim, and black. However as they become more readily available in brighter colours we will be moving more of our collection towards them.
All our ladies blouses and shirts are finished with a soft sewn in interfacing in the collar and cuffs with single notched button cuffs. We use buttons from famous Italian button maker Maribert and the entire shirt is hand cut and made at our Suffolk factory in England. Key features include a split yoke for extra comfort around the shoulders along with the use of only single needle stitching throughout. Many of the seams are double or triple sewn seams. This guarantees the shirt will last the test of time and creates a finish that one would expect from a British made shirt.
What to wear with your bright coloured shirt or top?
We have styled our women’s bright coloured shirts with cream, black and blue denim jeans. If you are looking to add a level of formality to your outfit then always pair the shirt with white, black or cream jeans. For more casual occasions and the weekend then you can’t go wrong with blue or indigo jeans. If it is a really hot day then opt for denim or ladies chino shorts. Remember to make the shirt and outfit your own! Our shirts are very versatile and look equally stylish tucked in or out, or even half in. Consider rolling the sleeves up or just turning back the cuffs, which works really well with our ladies Oxford shirts. If you need something to break up the top and bottom add a tan or brown belt.
We would recommend that you always keep the bottom half of your outfit simple. Stick with colours that contrast nicely like blue and white. Avoid bright coloured shorts as they can easily clash with your top colour. Remember the bright coloured shirt is the statement piece of your outfit. You don’t need to over complicate the rest of your outfit.

However even though we are very fond of Liberty and use many of their designs in our collections - we can honestly say Canclini are the best in the business.

Everyone has their favourite colour and for us this turquoise remains our favourite bright coloured shirt. The colour and finish of the cloth is really stunning and looks even better in person. It pairs really well with white or cream jeans. Add a brown belt to break the top and bottom up and the final result is a really smart and stylish summer outfit.

How to care for my women’s shirt?
We recommend a 30 degree wash. Under no circumstances should you ever put them on a tumble dryer. For best results hang straight from the washing machine and iron on the inside of the fabric on medium heat.
What sizes do you offer and what is the fit like?
We offer a fantastic size range from a size 6 up to 20. Our long sleeve blouses are fitted to create a nice feminine shape. If you prefer a more generous cut then we recommend going up one dress size.
