Workwear Fit

Fit is everything and no matter how good the trousers are, if they fit poorly not only will they be uncomfortable to wear but will not create the right impression. You want trousers that fit you properly. However many men will know how hard it is to find those elusive trousers that actually fit well. We are all different sizes and builds and yet the typical menswear store has such a small selection to choose from. How often do you leave deflated or worse have to compromise and settle for less?

Bearing this in mind we decided enough was enough and launched create your own chinos back in 2018. It was an overnight success and we have extended the service to include jeans along with moleskin and corduroy trousers. This service is simple but effective. Offer customers an exceptional selection of waist and inside leg measurements (including odd sizes) so they can get exactly what they want. Further we add in three leg builds so you have the option of a slim leg which is the current fashion trend, our medium leg for those seeking a tailored leg or the classic leg for men who just want a nice comfortable pair of trousers. In total we offer 200 unique combinations per colour.

A word of warning

Our create your own trousers is the online equivalent to a made to measure pair of trousers. We take your measurements and cut and make the trousers from them. As a result it is critical that you enter the right ones. We strongly recommend you re-measure yourself or a pair of trousers you currently own. Do not assume the size label is correct as many trouser companies are into vanity sizing where the actual waist size is bigger than the size label.

Fabric for work trousers

Fabric is the second most important part of buying any work trousers. The cloth most of the time is in direct contact with your skin. Further it is important for your skin to breathe so always stick with a cloth that is close to 100% cotton or wool. Always avoid trousers with polyester in. Our trouser cloths are made from long staple cotton (the best in the world) and sourced from famous Yorkshire mill Brisbane Moss. We offer a mixture of weights in either 100% cotton or 97% cotton with 3% elastane cloths. Both cloths have stretch in them which is really important for modern work trousers. You want them to give in just the right places. This makes them really comfortable to wear.

Our current fabric choice includes twill for our chinos along with moleskin and corduroy. All the weights can be classified as medium which is good for all year round. If you are seeking a lighter or heavier weight version for summer or winter, please do get in touch as we can order in these weights for a small surcharge. That also applied to colours too if you want something that is not in our standard collection.

In addition to quality trouser fabrics, we also complement the trousers with quality materials including using the finest shirting fabric for the interior pocket linings. We also use a YKK zip for the front and real buffalo horn buttons. The buttons are indestructible.

Work trousers Proudly made in England

We are able to offer ‘create your own trousers’ because we have our own factory in Suffolk, England. All our clothing, which also includes ladies blouses and a full menswear collection is cut by hand and made at our factory from start to finish. We include a number of extra steps in our trouser production which guarantees the trousers will last the test of time. All our clothing is built for long term use. If you are seeking UK trousers, then nothing better than trousers that are also made in the UK to the highest standards of British tailoring and manufacturing.

Timeless workwear style

When it comes to the best work trousers, it is really important to choose trousers that have a classic and timeless design. Such features which you will find on all our trousers include front slanted pockets along with double welt rear pockets. Our welt pockets include button fastened pocket flaps which can also be tucked into the pocket if you are seeking a cleaner finish. The pocket flaps are more than just a style option; they help to prevent the welt pocket from sagging overtime which we have all experienced with trousers. It eventually spoils even the best trousers. Always fasten the pocket flap during washing and hanging to give the pocket the extra support it needs and keep your chinos looking smart.

Last but not least we also finish the trousers with belt loops so you have the option to add a belt. The belt is a great men’s fashion accessory which is often overlooked. It is great to break up an outfit and add an extra level of sophistication.

Grey chinos are a great alternative to navy or tan colour trousers. They are equally versatile in terms of matching and creating stylish outfits. Further you can also easily dress them up or down. We have paired them with our royal blue corduroy shirt, but also with our light blue polo shirt. This demonstrates just how easy it is to style our trousers to suit a variety of different occasions including work and office wear.

Washing your work trousers

We recommend a 30 degree wash and hang the trousers as soon as possible. Never put them in a tumble dryer otherwise you risk shrinkage. Iron on the inside of the fabric on medium heat.

Conclusion

When it comes to the best work trousers UK, we not only have a fantastic selection of quality fabrics and colours to choose from , but also an online made to measure service that will ensure you can get the perfect fit. Remember to measure yourself before buying and when it comes to cloth and colour; think about the time of year and formality of the office environment. If you are looking for a winter pair of work trousers then consider corduroy or moleskin. If it is summer then always opt for chinos. With regards to colour navy and darker colours tend to lend themselves better for more formal outfits. If the work place is more casual and laid back then consider tan like stone or beige and grey colour trousers. If you work outside in the countryside fear not as our moleskin trousers are warm and particularly tough.

Last but not least don’t think that our trousers are something that is only for work. Our trousers are incredibly versatile and can easily be dressed up or down to suit every occasion from workwear to the weekend or part of a wedding outfit.
